Alexa Zimmer

Island-Grown, Community-Based Lawyer

I am so fortunate to have been raised on Vancouver Island and to call it home. Being able to support the growth of this amazing community truly brings it full circle. Whether it's celebrating your first home, gently guiding you through a transition, or helping you plan for the future, it is my privilege to be there for you and your family.

My Mission

As a lawyer - and as a human being - I know what matters most in relationships: communication, consistency, and trust.

From the moment we first connect, you won't have to wonder where you stand with me: what matters to you is always my top priority. I will make sure it's easy for you to access the legal support you need, that the path forward is clear, and that you will feel confident relying on me now and in the future.

On-Hand Expertise

Accessible, Timely, Effective

Life is too busy to be jumping through hoops. From day one, you will be working directly with me. Have a burning question? You'll get an answer straight from your lawyer. Need me to come to you? No problem. Can't take time off work to meet? I'm happy to schedule our appointment outside of regular business hours.

At every turn, I will make sure you are getting maximum value from our work together.

Clarity

Guidance, Transparency, Communication

I understand how stressful it can be to buy or sell a home, and plan for the future. Above all else, you want the process to be as smooth and straightforward as possible.

I use clear, consistent communication to guide you through every step of the way, while diligently working behind the scenes to make your life easier.

Teamwork

Strong Partnerships To Support You

Your real estate and estate planning matters involve a team of people - your loved ones, realtor, mortgage broker, financial advisors, even your bank!

I will confidently partner with your team to help you achieve your goals, and make sure the process is as enjoyable and seamless as possible.

What You Can Expect

Importance of Estate Planning

Don't leave things to chance: having a comprehensive estate plan protects your assets and ensures your wishes are carried out effectively. I will help you structure your assets and prepare rock-solid documents that are up-to-date, safeguarding you and your loved ones from unwanted surprises. Remember, your estate plan should be reviewed after major life events such as marriages, separations, births, or significant financial changes.

Essential Estate Planning Documents

Key documents include wills, powers of attorney, and healthcare representation agreements. Without them, you have little say in what happens down the road. This can create major challenges - and costs - for you and your family. I will craft bespoke documents with your specific needs in mind, ensuring a smooth transfer of assets, clear decision-making processes, and certainty for the future.

Role of Your Real Estate Lawyer

As cheesy as it sounds, think of your real estate transaction like a relay race, and your lawyer is taking your matter over the finish line. If there are delays along the way, I'll be the one sprinting to ensure the race is won. I am your teammate and advocate, working tirelessly to protect your interests, your investments, and your peace of mind, right up until the moment the deal is done.

How Should I Prepare for our Meeting?

At our meeting, we will be talking about you, your loved ones, your relationships, and your financial circumstances. For me to be able to advise you fully, it sometimes means discussing things you normally would keep private. I will respectfully guide you and tell you why I need to know certain things. Remember, everything we discuss is confidential.

Can't Everything Be Signed Digitally?

Unfortunately, no. Whether you're signing estate planning or real estate documents, most things will need to be signed in person. I will work with you to make sure the process is as convenient as possible. This could mean I come to you, or I send documents to an office near you. We can also work with technology to make it all come together seamlessly. You have options with me.

Let's Talk Fees

Of course! We all have a budget, and no one likes surprises. When you work with me, you will never encounter the dreaded "hourly rate" - everything I offer is flat-fee and communicated up-front. If something increases the complexity of your matter, I will make sure you know exactly what to expect so you can decide what makes sense for you and your family.
